From the Director’s Heart…
Month of May is dedicated to Mother Mary. Don Bosco had a special love for her. He entrusted most of his works to her and she took care of them all. We too at Ashalayam paid homage to her and sought her help.
This month has connected us with a few new people and most important of them are Fr. Anthony and Br. Julian, the new members who are added to the Ashalayam family.
Fr. Anthony is the pioneer of the street children work in India. He is the one who began the Ashalayam work in Hawrah Kolkata followed by Ashalayam New Delhi and then Ashalayam Lucknow. He began the work in Lucknow city first and then moved out to its present location at Mohanlalganj in 2007. Today because of his hard work many of the street children are settled in life and are doing well. We at Ashalayam are very happy to receive him back.
He is now 81 years old and says, “My heart is here at Ashalayam, I want to die here”. We pray that God gives him good health and keeps him young always.
Br. Julian too has been working with street children. He has been an as-sistant at Ashalayam New Delhi. Presently he is doing his MSW studies from Lucknow. We welcome him at Ashalayam Lucknow and wish him all the best.
We like to express our gratitude to Br. Bimal Kerketta who has been at Ashalayam for last one year. He has done much for the children in taking classes and looking after them. God be praised for his valuable contribu-tion. He is now moving to Bangalore for his further studies towards priesthood. We wish him all the best and God’s blessings.
